Re: Iomega Zip Drive Rebate

Dear Mr. Boehn:
As a first time customer in your store I saw the Iomega Zip Drive display advertising a $50 rebate on a $199.99 purchase price on October 17, 1997.

The sales clerk gave me the forms to fill out: CompUSA at P.O. Box 52995, Dept. 8845, Phoenix, AZ. I sent the original receipt as requested and sent everything certified mail. The receipt and form were received on October 23, 1997. I immediately registered the Iomega Zip Drive at Sierra Linda School, 2201 Jasmine Ave., Oxnard, CA 93030, where I work rather than at home because I use the Zip Drive to move around to the different school computers. Sierra Linda School is part of the Oxnard School District at 1051 South "A" Street, Oxnard, CA 93030. Iomega has a record of this registration. Is it possible that CompUSA or Iomega sent my rebate directly to the Oxnard School District?

The form stated that I should wait eight weeks. On the eighth week I phoned your rebate center and talked with Barbara Gonzalez. She said that I was in the computer and that she would get back to me. She never did. I called several times. I finally got a hold of Barbara Gonzalez again and she said that her department does not do the Iomega Zip Drive and that she would return the original receipt to me. I called and called regarding my original receipt. I have not yet received my receipt at this time.

Last week I stopped by your store to inquire about my rebate. They gave me the corporate office number to call: 800-278-4685. The man who answered the phone connected me to the Iomega office. I was told that I no longer qualify for my rebate because of the passage of time!!!

I can not believe that I have been treated in this manner after trying to follow your rules and patiently waiting for five months now. Fifty dollars sure is not very much money, however, I am owed this amount and should be paid.

Please look into this matter and hopefully you can resolve this problem for me. I am looking forward to your prompt reply.

Sincerely,
