DO YOU HAVE BAD jaz DISKS?

dated 13 March - 20 April 1997?

If so (according to

a Standard-Examiner news story

that was "recent" on 12 May 1997) you should

CALL "iomega consumer affairs" at 1.800.336.1314 (12 May 1997)

(this may be a number where others can get help with other iomega problems as well ... I just don't know.) and/or

send iomega email for help

[Gratuitous comment: Yeah, right. Good Luck!

If anybody actually starts getting reasonable customer support via email from iomega, I would really like to know about it! --SL, 12 May 1997]

If you get tired of talking to iomega that way, try the number everybody else seems to know and use (1.888 is just as toll-free as 1.800 usually is, but beware, for one can call 1.800 numbers that charge; I do not know whether or not this is also true for some 1.888 numbers, but would welcome information on that question) :

"[The] unlisted phone number for MCI Chandler [is]

602-814-0400

"MCI Chandler handles both the [iomega] and Packard Bell contracts for Tech support [and the iomega center] is split into three [separate] bays. John [last name withheld by Langford] and Dan [last name withheld by Langford] manage them on the first level. The guy who runs them is Russ. I do not know his last name."

?ANONYMOUS TIP? OF 19 March 1997!

Here is another internal phone number.

MCI Chandlers direct number to their central control cubical. that is where they monitor call data and the internal Network.

I do not know how up to date it is, but it was valid last week.

602-812-1444

And here is one of the supervisors email.

scott.hernadez@mci.com

His name is Scott Hernandez.
He is one of good people there.

Picture of green frog at left hitting a blue bug at right; the frog's red tongue forms a horizontal rule.

?ANONYMOUS TIP? OF 23 FEB 1997!

The easiest way to get free support from Iomega(MCI) is to call the 1-888 number and tell the technician that you are a VAR (reseller of Iomega products). They may ask for a tax ID. If this is the case simply tell the technician that you do not have that information at hand at this time or make some number up. If the technician still does not give you free support, simply ask for his supervisor(Dan or John). At this point the technician will most likely give you free support rather than deal with the supervisor.

[Please note well: I do not endorse dishonest behavior such as this.

It is indeed sad that people are driven to such extremes,

just to get help when they are desperate. --SL, 23 Feb 1997]

European iomega Contact!

Siobhan Murphy

14 March 1997 update from Lood, in South Africa:

... great news for all South African IOMEGA product users. After your freind in Germany contacted me, (which was very successful) I saw in a SA Computer mag (http://www.gem.co.za/sacb) of a company that now started importing IOMEAGA drives. They gave me a, get this, TOLL FREE number to phone to contact IOMEGA in Europe. After only three tries, I actually got through. I spoke to a guy there called Thomas (I promised him a postcard of Cape Town) who hellped me and is sending me all available drivers. So.....

FOR ALL SOUTH AFRICANS, enjoy this TOLL FREE number.
