Notes for A VOLKMANN:
Mr. Volkmann's first name was not readable on the microfilm copy of the 1900 Guadalupe Census. The census showed that he had been married to his wife Paulina for 17 years and that he and both his parents were born in Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1883. He was a farmer and owned his farm free and clear. The farm schedule number was 178 in the 1900 census. He could read, write and speak English.
Notes for PAULINA ( ) VOLKMANN:
The 1900 Guadalupe Census shows that Paulina was married for 17 years at the time and had 5 children of which 5 were living at the time of the census. She immigrated to the United States in 1882. She was born in Germany as were both her parents. At the time of the census, Paulina could not read or write, but could speak English.

Notes for LILLIE YOUNG:
The 1900 Guadalupe Census shows Lillie's birthdate to be February 1893 instead of 1896. At that time she was 6 and could not read or write but could speak English.
She had 7 other brothers and sisters.
Family history says that the Young name was originally Jung then changed to Yung and later changed to Young when her family came to the U.S.

Notes for THOMAS FRANKLIN KEYSER:
I have been working on this family tree now since September 1997. I never knew how far I would go with it but every day I find something or someone new to add. It is a relief knowing where my ancestors came from and what they did for a living. It is hard to imagine how they had to live back in the "old" days but I know from research that it was not always easy. I can only tell you that from the photographs that I have seen so far, it seems that most of the family was happy. I still have a ways to go with my research but as of today April 17, 1998 I have over 900 names in the family tree.
Notes: I entered the U. S. Navy in September 1970 through the Navy Recruiting Office in downtown San Antonio. I will eventually list all my former commands here. I retired from the U.S. NAVY in New Orleans, LA after 22 years June 30, 1992.
Today, September 6, 1998 I attended the annual ALTHAUS/ROGERS reunion in Naco, Arizona at the Two Owls Inn. In attendance were approximately 75 family members who I finally got to meet after finding my family relations here in Arizona. I sat down with Harry Althaus who came in from New Mexico and discussed several aspects of the Althaus genealogy and in addition, got to meet the Rogers side of the family. Some of them are currently filling out genealogy worksheets for me to add their families to the tree. I will eventually get a list of those who attended from Edna Rogers Soles.
Today, October 21, 1998 I met Art and Marlene Althaus who are from South Dakota. they are on a trip to southern Mexico for the winter. Having corresponded with them a couple of months ago about the South Dakota ALTHAUS families, they had decided to come to Sierra Vista to visit with me. We had lunch and discussed our families and will continue to search for a common name between the two. Although they only stayed a couple of hours, it was enjoyable and they are a very nice couple.

Mitchell's last name is actually listed as Carr on his birth certificate because his mother refused marry Matt and put Keyser as the last name although she does not hesitate to collect child support. A request was made by her to Matt to let her and her new husband adopt Mitchell but that request was turned down.
