The following info was provided by Johann's great granddaughter Nita Jo Neff-Holcek whom I found on the internet queries pages for Guadalupe County.
Peter Johann NEFF lived in Seguin around 1901. Peter was born Oct. 16, 1857 in Germany (where in Germany we don't know). He came over to the U.S. at the age of four years old. He married Mary MIELKE on Dec. 6, 1887. The marriage license said her name was Elmira but the death records in Bexar County had her listed as Mary and so did her headstone.
Peter was 30 years old at the time of application for naturalization on July 25, 1887. He was naturalized on February 1, 1897. Mary and Peter had 6 children: Otto, Elizabeth, Louise, Frederick G. (Gustav), Annie, and Hedwig (Hattie). Mary died in childbirth on March 11, 1900 in Berg's Mill located in south San Antonio. She was buried by Riebe Funeral Home. Peter had 2 possible brothers: Hermann, who was 24 years old when he was naturalized on February 1, 1889, and Jacob.
After Mary died, Peter moved to Seguin to get help with raising his 6 children from his in-laws, especially Richard Mielke, Mary's brother. Peter then married Georgine Gretchen CLOUDT -- marriage date unknown my me. He had 3 more children with Georgine: Ella, and the twins, Ida, and Frieda.
There is a story about Peter's death. His only living daughter, Ella NEFF-SAUNDERS who now lives in Pennsylvania told my father that Peter was coming back from the gin in Seguin - the gin was where the Dairy Queen is now on Court St. - when his mules were frightened by a lantern and threw my great-grandfather out of the wagon. The mules in their panic ran over him. He died two days later.
After the death of Georgine, who had raised the 9 children with tender loving care, Richard Mielke, Mary's brother took in the 5 youngest children. The other children were raised by other relatives. When Georgine died on Sept. 22, 1915, she was buried with Peter at the Lone Oak Cemetery in Geronimo, Texas. Peter's and Mary's oldest son, Otto and his wife are also buried there. Alma LEHMANN, Otto's daughter is also buried there.
Notes for GEORGINE GRETCHEN CLOUDT:

The remainder of the NEFF family has been removed at the request of a family member. Although there was no private data in this info I have removed it anyway. Although the request was to remove the entire NEFF family, I felt it was not necessary since part of my KOEPP family was also listed here.
