INNER GUIDE ACTIVITIES
| 1. PRIVATE INITIATION INTO MEDITATION: |
Both Jay and Gabriele Mazo learned meditation under the spiritual guidance of their teacher Sri SivaBalaYogi in India during the 1970s. This method of inner focusing is nonsectarian and can be practiced by all. The actual initiation time takes one hour. Afterwards those initiated will receive sacred holy ash blessed by Sri SivaBalaYogi. There is no charge for the meditation initiation. For the meditation to yield best results it is advised that those initiated continue regular meditation on a daily basis and use the blessed sacred holy ash. |
| 2. HOMA FIRE CEREMONY: |
For thousands of years various cultures have been performing fire ceremonies to invoke and make connection with the Divine Powers that pervade the universe. There is a specially constructed brick fire pit in the Mazos' backyard where offerings are made into the sacred fire. The fire is seen as the messenger to transmit offerings to receive the blessings from the Divine Powers. There is no charge for the fire ceremony, but those participating are welcomed to bring wood and ghee (clarified butter) as a personal offering. During the fire ceremony, chanting of mantra holy words from India's ancient Vedas will be done to invoke divine blessings on the participants. |
| 3. MAHASIVARATRI CELEBRATIONS: |
This is an all night holy festival marking the joining of the Divine being symbolized as Siva and his spiritual energy the goddess Parvati. During this sacred night the Divine Presence will be invoked through the medium of a Linga. The linga is an abstract representation of Spirit as the cosmic egg. Various liquids will be poured over the oval Linga by the participants. Spiritual songs on God's names will be chanted and sacred stories will be told of various divine manifestations. The participants are welcome to stay through the night onto the early morning. At dawn a marriage ceremony between Siva and Parvati will be done near a water fountain. After the night's fast a big feast will be served in the morning. To secure Divine blessings, participants are advised to bring a flower offering. |
