This was actually the second incarnation of the strip, the first being a series of ten one-page cartoons I drew from 1977 to 1979 for a small independent publication called "Free Lunch" ("TANSTAAFL: There ain't no such thing as a Free Lunch") while attending Bates College. That first strip provided the core concept for the new one (redrawn as episode numbers 23 to 47), which was then fleshed out with more characters and story threads.
