This gull was present near East Landing on Saint Paul Island, Alaska on October 2, 2007. We would have dismissed this bird as a Vega Herring Gull if the pale iris hadn't been so obvious. This individual had a broad black tail band, and was heard giving a juvenile-like begging call. Comments concerning age and identity would be welcome, reply to Rich Hoyer at calliope AT theriver.com.
